Chiropractor, Dr. Rob Rusk
My love of chiropractic has been with me most of my life. When I was ten years old, I started getting daily headaches. They progressively got worse. I avoided being out in the sun and certain smells would trigger headaches like my mom’s candles that she would light around the house. I was in my fourth grade class and I had the worst headache of my life. I cried my eyes out and had to go to the nurse’s office. When my mom came to pick me up I felt better and I felt bad that she had to take time off of work to come get me.
That night I went to the chiropractor for the first time. My dad had been going to a chiropractor for about twenty years at that point, religiously every month. After finding out that the natural curve in my neck had reversed, I started down the path to fixing my problem. I visited the chiropractor for about one month and I haven’t had a series of headaches since. In fact, if I get a headache it’s usually my own fault.
Ten years later, after performing a dead lift of over four hundred pounds with bad technique I needed to see a chiropractor again for low back pain. At twenty years old you shouldn’t have to take fifteen minutes to get out of bed in the morning. Again, chiropractic saved me from a life of agony and pain medications that only mask the pain. So when you come into the office with a certain pain, sometimes I really do know what you’re going through.
I Chose Chiropractic Because I Love Helping People
When people ask you when you’re young what you want to be when you grow up it really turns heads when you say a chiropractor before you can even shave. I absolutely love what I do.
The only time in my life I can think of where my thoughts of what I wanted to do wavered was when I was in college at Indiana State University (Go Trees!). I didn’t think that I would want to go through with that many years of school and decided to pursue a degree in Business Management. It wasn’t until the spring break of my junior year that I realized school wasn’t so bad. I began taking the classes I needed to enroll in chiropractic school while finishing my degree in business.
Education
After being accepted into Logan College of Chiropractic, I was completely dumbfounded at exactly how much there is to learn about the human body. Taking approximately thirty credit hours per trimester isn’t what most people consider fun. It was the most difficult time I had in my life, but it has paid off. I now get to help people just like you every day. Do you know how hard it is to say I’m going to work without saying work? I feel that way every day. I get to see people at their worst and most of the time get to see relief immediately that same day. Name another doctor that can say that? As a chiropractor, I get to see you feel better day after day and I’ll cheer you on as you take those steps towards becoming a healthier person.
How I Ended Up In West Lafayette
I grew up in Rockville, IN just a little south of Turkey Run State Park for those of you not familiar with the area. I played football, wrestled, lifted cheerleaders during basketball season, and participated in field events during track season all while working at the local grocery store where I met my future wife. During the winter I would hunt which I still do when time allows. After graduating I went to Indiana State University and then Logan College of Chiropractic in St. Louis, MO. It was during my time in chiropractic school that I married my girlfriend of seven years, Meghan. After finishing school, I practiced in Danville, IN for a year when I contacted Dr. Adam Cline.
Dr. Cline’s methods of treating patients were and still are different from traditional chiropractors. Using Pilates as a way to help people achieve results that last was a tough pill to swallow, at first. I now understand how innovative it was and how it’s ahead of its time to
incorporate chiropractic, acupuncture and Pilates. This cocktail of healing gets results that are fast and more importantly gets results that last.
Outside of being at the office, I spend my time with my wife, Meghan; son, Aiden; and daughter, Brooklyn. We are members of Northview Church in West Lafayette. And I would be honored to be called your doctor.
